Hidden Lake Farm Update

As many of you know, Danny and I leased part of our farm to a newly established hunter jumper business in November. This included the main barn, which we fondly refer to as the “Horse Palace,” the Hillside Arena, the Lakeside Arena, and 20 acres. This was projected and expected to be a short-term lease followed by a sale. Given this, we transferred our NTHJC show dates to the new business and did not schedule any shows for 2015. The lease will terminate at the end of February and the new business is relocating to another property. We have now scheduled a number of shows for the rest of the year and the schedule is below.

Once we leased the property in November, we began boarding horses in the two smaller, open air barns and in the paddocks and pasture on the farm. We offer both full care stall boarding with substantial turnout and two levels of pasture boarding. We are almost full, but we do still have a few spots open. We have no plans to reopen the Horse Palace in the immediate future, so show clients who request stalls will overnight there. We do not and will not have a trainer as part of our business model going forward. Our boarding clients are welcome to invite their own trainers to provide lessons at the farm, with no portion of the lesson revenue paid to Hidden Lake Farm. We simply need a signed release for each trainer and a copy of the trainer’s liability insurance naming Hidden Lake Farm as an additional insured.

We will likely list a portion of the property for sale shortly, as we are preparing for semi-retirement in the next year or two. We will not list the entire property and will continue to board horses in our smaller barns and pastures for the foreseeable future.

Please feel free to call me if you need further information. We are looking forward to hosting shows again! We sincerely appreciate all of the texts, emails, and calls we have received over the last few months expressing loyalty, sadness that our shows would not be conducted, and appreciation for what the Hidden Lake Farm shows have contributed to the equestrian community over the past two decades.

Sincerely,
Barbie Mims
